Guidelines for ceremonies at The Great Barn

Catering guidelines

  • To maintain the atmosphere, food and drink are not permitted in the main seated area during the hour leading up to your ceremony.
  • After the ceremony, you're welcome to serve food and drink, which can be prepared in advance and stored behind the partition wall.
  • Catering setups are permitted in front of Cart Shed Workshop 3, near the Steward's Room steps.
  • No deep/shallow fryers or gas cylinders are allowed inside.
  • All gas bottles must be removed after the event.
  • Protective floor coverings are required to prevent stains.
  • Oil must not be disposed of down drains.
  • Outdoor cooking is welcome in the Gravel Courtyard (Bury Street side). We allow hog roasts and barbecues, provided they are run by professional catering companies.
  • All catering and bar equipment must be cleared and loaded by 11pm.

What must the caterer provide?

  • A full list of cooking equipment
  • Public Liability Insurance
  • PAT testing certificates for all electrical items
  • Hygiene certifications
