Moving in and keeping your home
Moving into your own place is a big step. We'll help you prepare for your tenancy, understand your responsibilities and get the support you need to settle in and manage your new home.
Before you agree to a tenancy
- Confirm that the rent, service charges and bills are affordable over the full tenancy.
- Make sure landlord, property, safety, suitability and tenancy checks are complete.
- Understand the tenancy or licence, notice provisions, house rules and who is responsible for repairs.
- Confirm benefits, deposit, rent-in-advance and other financial help in writing.
- Do not pay money or sign until our Homefinder team or Housing Service confirms that you can proceed.

Your Personal Adviser will agree the practical and emotional support needed for the move.
