Where will I live?

Planning your housing with you

Housing planning should start well before you need to move and should not wait until you're at risk of becoming homeless.

We will start planning with you early and listen to your views.

From the age of 16, your Pathway Plan should identify your preferred housing option, a realistic alternative and what will happen if your accomodation ends unexpectedly.

What your plan should cover

  • Where you want to live and any areas that would be unsafe for you
  • Family, friends and other support networks
  • Money, benefits, rent, bills and affordability
  • Health, disability, mental health, neurodiversity or mobility needs
  • Education, employment, training, parenting or caring responsibilities
  • Immigration status and access to public funds (where relevant)
  • Independent living skills and support needs
  • Risks such as domestic abuse, exploitation, offending or leaving custody

Your personal adviser

Your personal adviser will help you understand your housing options, update your Pathway Plan, gather any information needed, make referrals and support you before and after you move.

If you're a former relevant young person, you can request personal adviser support at any time before your 25th birthday.
