Woodlarks and Waders has been making a difference to Highgrove Woods, ponds and other waterways across the borough for many years.
It all started with a small group of nature enthusiasts (then called Highgrove Volunteers) who wanted to look after the Highgrove Woods - a small green oasis in Eastcote. The aim was to create a better habitat for amphibians, birds and other wildlife, as well as improving conditions for the plants to grow.
They also wanted to make a change in the rivers, so expanded their working area to the River Pinn and Yeading Brook - and Highgrove Volunteers became Woodlarks and Waders.
The group meets on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 10am to 1pm.

Work includes everything from scrub management along river banks to litter picking adjacent fields. Group members aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves, slip into the waders and jump in the river to clear the blockages, which could otherwise cause flood problems.
