Service personnel

Armed Forces Covenant

If you are serving, or have served, in the Army, Navy or Royal Air Force, you are part of the Armed Forces community. This also includes veterans, reservists, cadets, family members and dependants.

In June 2012, Hillingdon was proud to sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment between the civilian community and the Armed Forces community. It recognises the contribution made by serving personnel, veterans and their families and helps ensure that nobody experiences disadvantage when accessing services because of their military service.

Aims of the Armed Forces Covenant

  • Encourage local communities to support the Armed Forces community in their areas (and vice versa).
  • Nurture public understanding and awareness amongst the public of issues affecting the Armed Forces community.
  • Recognise and remember the sacrifices faced by the Armed Forces Community.
  • Encourage activities that help to integrate the Armed Forces Community into local life.
  • Encourage the Armed Forces Community to help and support the wider community, whether through participation in events and joint projects, or other forms of engagement.
