Small electricals recycling

Take your small electricals to one of our libraries, where they will be collected and taken away for recycling.

Important: Batteries should be disposed of separately in battery recycling points in the borough.  

How are electronics recycled?

If you've ever wondered what happens when you recycle your old electrical items - wonder no more! HypnoCat is here to explain the whole process from top to tail.

Accepted items

  • Cables and plugs 
  • Small kitchen appliances, such as kettles, toasters and blenders
  • Personal grooming products, such as hairdryers, straighteners, electric toothbrushes
  • Power tools, such as drills and sanders
  • Small household electricals, such as alarm clocks and radios, CD and DVD players, games consoles, small speakers and headphones
  • Personal technology, such as mobile phones, laptops and tablets, and cameras - remember to remove personal data and memory cards

Please note: There is a size limit of 25cm x 25cm, which is roughly equivalent to a 4-slice toaster.

Items not accepted

  • Microwaves
  • Large electrical items, such as floor lamps, fridges and freezers, and vacuum cleaners
  • Lawnmowers
  • Lightbulbs
  • TVs
  • Vapes and e-cigarettes

Repair your electricals

The West London Waste Authority and the Restart Project has developed an online directory to help you find local businesses who can repair broken electrical devices to avoid them being thrown away.
