Our council carries out, regularly reviews and follows a range of risk assessments at Ruislip Lido to help keep the site safe for residents and visitors.
Public safety and liability considerations are addressed through these risk assessments and our operational plan, rather than through a single standalone document.
What do the risk assessments cover?
These assessments cover a wide range of activities and potential hazards including, but not limited to:

water-related risks (including prohibition of swimming and drowning risk)

blue/green algae and water quality

beach and play equipment use
-
vehicle movements and site access
-
aggressive dogs and animal interactions
-
fishing activity
-
visitor amenities, litter and sharp objects
-
seasonal risks (hot weather, cold weather, ice)
-
splash pad operation (including Legionella risk and slip hazards).
Each assessment includes its own assessment date, review date, and approval status.
Lido Operational Plan
Traffic management and arrangements for busy periods are set out in our Lido Operational Plan.
The plan includes a tiered response approach to manage visitor volumes and associated impacts.
Measures include:

additional parking enforcement officers

traffic marshals at key locations, including car parks and access roads

temporary overflow parking provision, including use of Breakspear Crematorium

high-visibility signage directing traffic when car parks are full
-
tow trucks and enforcement resources to maintain road access.
These measures help to:

manage congestion on surrounding roads

prevent unsafe or obstructive parking

maintain access routes, including for emergency services.
