Household rubbish collections

What can I put in my household rubbish?

You can put the following items into your household rubbish:

  • ceramics, such as broken plates or mugs
  • cigarette buds
  • hard plastics, such as plant pots
  • nappies
  • pet waste
  • polystyrene
  • sanitary products
  • used tissues and wet wipes.

All rubbish should be stored in large, tied black bags, ready for your collection day.

Items you cannot put into your household rubbish include:

  • asbestos
  • batteries
  • bulky waste items
  • business waste
  • chemicals
  • clinical waste, including needles
  • deceased animals
  • electrical items
  • fluorescent tubes and lightbulbs
  • food waste
  • garden waste
  • Gas cannisters
  • recyclable items
  • textiles.

Recycle unwanted household items wherever you can.
