We offer a range of free Cycle Skills training for families in Hillingdon - from children learning to balance and those learning to ride for the first time, to adults (over-16s) wanting to improve their cycle skills or gain confidence on the road.
Sessions available
- Learn to Balance (for 4 to 6-year-olds) - master the art of balancing on specially-designed bikes without pedals. This fun, confidence-building session helps children develop independent balance - an essential first step to riding a bike
- Learn to Ride (for 6 to 10-year-olds) - learn to ride using pedal bikes, and get ready for the next stage - ‘Bikeability’ training (offered to year 6 pupils across the borough)
- Learn to Ride/Cycle training (for over-16s) - whether you’re riding for the first time or brushing up after a break, these sessions build your skills and confidence to enjoy cycling safey.
Please note:
- All children need to be accompanied by an adult on their training sessions.
- You can attend individually or as a family.
- Sessions take place outdoors, so are weather dependant. Please check this web page for any updates before attending.
- Bringing your own helmets, bikes and balance bikes, is advised, but we will also have a limited amount available to use, free of charge.
When do sessions take place?
Sessions take place on every 2nd Saturday of the month, from April to October.
2026 dates will be announced in February.
How do I book?
Due to limited numbers, spaces are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
