The Babybox scheme supports eligible families in Hillingdon by providing a range of essential items for newborn babies and new parents.
The boxes are designed to help families prepare for the arrival of their baby and support them during the first few months.
What's included?
Each box contains 22 essential items for newborn babies and mothers, including:
- short-sleeved bodysuit (0 to 3-months)
- long-sleeved bodysuit (3 to 6-months)
- long-sleeved sleepsuit (0 to 3-months)
- 2 pairs of socks
- cotton hat (0 to 6 months)
- baby sleeping bag
- bib
- cellular blanket
- comforter toy
- play mat
- baby book
- travel changing mat
- muslin squares
- hooded bath towel
- baby toothbrush
- bath and room thermometer
- pack of disposable nappies
- maternity towels
- nursing pads
- cotton pads
- antiseptic healing cream
- nipple cream (minimum 40ml)
Eligibility criteria
Boxes are available to eligible families in Hillingdon through a referral process. To be eligible for a box, families must meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
- 1 parent is care experienced (has been looked after by Hillingdon or another local authority)
- the parent will be under 25-years-old at the baby's estimated due date
- the family has no recourse to public funds
- the family is being supported by a family help key worker, social worker or family development worker.
Referrals
Referrals must be made by a professional from 1 of the following organisations:
- Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL)
- Hillingdon Council
- Home-Start
- Hillingdon Hospital

Boxes can only be delivered to 1 of the following children's centres or family hubs for collection:
