Future proposals
- Light and sound installation to subway connecting the station to Blyth Road
- Implementation of town centre clock to complement the 'Gold Disc' feature
- Boardwalk extension installed at Botwell Bridge, creating a cycle lane and an attractive walkway with open views of the Grand Union Canal.
2020/21 improvements - funded by Transport for London and developer contributions
- New paving, street lighting and street furniture throughout to complement town centre works
- Bus stop improvements to accommodate new routes, such as the 278, linking Ruislip to Heathrow via Hayes
- Introducing new drop off / pick up spaces in Blyth Road for nearby Hayes and Harlington crossrail station.
2018 improvements - funded by Transport for London and Hillingdon Council
- Re-opening Station Road to through traffic, including buses
- Introducing a continuous dedicated cycle lane throughout the town centre
- New on-street parking places in Crown Close
- Replacing the existing bandstand with a new 'Gold Disc' canopy, reflecting the musical heritage of Hayes
- Brighter street lighting, which illuminates the footpaths as well as the road
- 20mph zone introduced throughout the town centre
- Upgraded pedestrian crossings with 'Countdown' timers
- New street furniture and landscaping throughout.
2012 improvements - funded by the GLA and Hillingdon Council
- 792m2 of forecourts improved
- 35 shop front grants offered to improve the appearance of independent shops
- Visual merchanting training offered to 24 businesses.
