CCTV evidence for insurance and legal firms

We can provide CCTV footage for official evidence purposes. This service is available to insurance companies and legal firms.

Our evidential CCTV service includes searching the relevant cameras, reviewing the footage, downloading the required clips and supplying them with the necessary evidential continuity statements.

The cost of this service is £180 (excluding VAT) per request.

To request CCTV evidence, email cctv@hillingdon.gov.uk with details of your request.

Shops and businesses

When planning the installation of a CCTV system, the first step is to identify and define the problem - for example, a security threat, a public safety issue or any number of other vulnerabilities.

Visit GOV.uk for information on setting up and using CCTV cameras.

Private cameras

The law regarding private individuals or businesses using CCTV is complex. Making sure that all CCTV systems collect, record, store and share images in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 is the role of the Information Commissioner's Office.

If your camera covers any areas beyond the boundaries of your property (for example, neighbouring gardens or the street), it may not be exempt from the Data Protection Act under the domestic purposes exemption. If you cannot rely on the domestic purposes exemption, you will need to register with the ICO as a data controller.
