Grays Road

Map of the Grays Road site

A former RAF residential site used by the Ministry of Defence to house serving personnel, was acquired by the council in July 2024 for future development.

We are developing plans to transform the area and provide hundreds of new affordable homes.

The main principles driving this development are:

  • maximising the amount of affordable housing on site
  • designing to a very high standard to meet planning and GLA requirements
  • ensuring there is adequate parking for existing and new residents
  • making the most of fully accessible public spaces to create areas enjoyed by everyone.

The site has been vacant since 1996 and forms part of the former Royal Air Force Uxbridge site, the remainder of which, known as St Andrew’s Park development (by private developers), is currently being redeveloped. The site contains 92 unoccupied residential houses in various states of disrepair.

We are committed to making sure the new development is fit for the future and ensuring all aspects of the scheme are sustainable, while supporting nature and the local ecology.

Consultation

An engagement event was held between 3pm to 7pm on Wednesday 11 June 2025 at Hillingdon Civic Centre.

The engagement event allowed residents drop in and review the plans for the proposed redevelopment of the former RAF Uxbridge residential site on Grays Road. The council purchased the site in 2024 and the plans include the construction of approximately 335 new homes.

Consultation feedback

  • The development will enable improved access to the town centre.
  • A pedestrian through way to the school would be welcomed.
  • School supports north/south connection through site.
  • Heritage is important.
  • Concerns expressed about having high rises.
  • Local residents worried about insufficient parking provision.
  • Local residents would like to see a mix of styles of homes so that buildings didn't all look the same.
