The local election for Hillingdon West ward has been deferred following the death of a candidate, Shaun Cooling.
The elections will go ahead as planned for the borough’s other 20 wards on Thursday 7 May 2026.
Returning Officer for Hillingdon Council, Lloyd White, said: “We send our condolences to Shaun’s family and friends at this sad time."
In accordance with the Representation of the People Acts 1983, the councillors for Hillingdon West, Adam Bennett and Reeta Chamdal, will continue to represent the ward and the election will take place on Thursday 18 June.
Residents in the ward will receive letters notifying them of the postponement of the election and new poll cards will be issued to voters.
The new polling cards will explain postal and proxy vote arrangements if voters cannot attend at the polling station on the new date.
Candidate nominations will reopen on Wednesday 13 May. All previously validated candidates will remain on the ballot paper.
