Debunking housing myths

We have launched a campaign to dispel common misconceptions about housing in the borough and support residents to avoid homelessness.

Common myths include how and when support can be provided to prevent homelessness, how council homes are allocated, and the availability of council housing or temporary accommodation.

Housing myths come in many forms and can be harmful, leading to unrealistic expectations or decisions that put you at risk of homelessness. Let's dispel them.

If you have concerns about your housing situation, it’s important to act quickly.

There are organisations that can provide advice and guidance alongside the council, including the Hillingdon Advice Partnership, Shelter or Crisis.
