Heathrow Airport Limited’s proposal for the Heathrow expansion

Heathrow Airport Limited’s proposal includes: 

  • the creation of a 3.5 kilometre 3rd runway north-west of the airport and associated taxiways, designed to accommodate aircraft of all sizes

  • an increase in air traffic movements by 276,000 a year, to a total of 756,000 per year

  • additional terminal capacity through expanding and modernising to bring overall capacity up to 150 million passengers a year

  • a new terminal complex to the west of Terminal 5, along with 2 ‘satellite’ terminals

  • supporting infrastructure to increase cargo capacity by 50%, reconfigured surface access, including the realignment of the M25 motorway below the new runway and consolidated parking facilities, including an expanded public transport interchange.
